Clarinet Basics, by Paul Harris – A method for individual and group learning. CD included

The book is split into 22 stages and each stage presents new challenges and pieces to help learn new notes and other skills on the clarinet. Each stage has its own warm ups and finger exercises, bite sized factfiles which cover a wide range of topics within general musicianship, rhythm workouts and quizzes and games.

Notes are explained and demonstrated in helpful and clear diagrams. Accompanying these are illustrations showing which holes to cover and which keys to press on the clarinet to play the note.
A wide variety of music appears in the book including popular tunes such as When the Saints go Marching in and Theme from ‘Eastenders.

Clarinet Basics also comes with a CD, the CD offers excellent accompaniment for most of the pieces in the book. This helps keeps the tempo and gives an idea as to how the pieces should be played.

This books is appropriate for absolute beginners and progresses up to approximately grade 2.

This is definitely the best tutor book for clarinettists. Starting at the basics, the tunes are fun and manageable. A great teacher book accompanies it, well worth using!
