Miyazawa Type 1-SS 14K Riser Open Hole Flute

This professional instrument from Miyazawa showcases the pinnacle in precision craftsmanship. Featuring a solid silver headjoint, body and footjoint, the Type 1-SS also benefits from Straubinger pads.

Unlike standard felt flute pads the Straubinger pads are made from a unique synthetic material. This material has a much more stable formula and is not prone to depression like standard felt which will wear and change over time. The special Straubinger pads are held in a position of tension due to their support mechanism. This ensures the regularity and long consistency of the pad.

The Type 1-SS Miyazawa also features the Brogger system keywork. This manufacturing improvement offers a more durable key action with less resistance and less friction to slow or wear the mechanism down. Developed by master technician Johann Brogger the system has met with critical acclaim across the flute world.

The Brogger system is a combination of various small improvements to the traditional key rod methods. This includes a new thumb key which has a unique springing system which allows a quicker action, useful for certain trills, and has an ergonomic position for the left hand.

All Miyazawa flutes except the 102 also have a pinless mechanism which improves the durability and the action on areas of the flute that can traditionally wear and bind.

The Miyazawa embouchure cut and solid silver tube make for a big sound that projects well and is full of colour.

The Type 1-SS is a beautiful flute that takes some beating for sound and mechanical features.
