It aims to give illustrated and factual information about woodwind mouthpieces, their designs, materials and their use for different genres of music.
"A marvelous musician, interpreter, teacher and thinker. Thoughts that refresh and cleanse the mind."'MOUTHPIECES-WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW' has been a riotous success. Called 'THE MUSICIANS PRAYER BOOK' by Jazzwise magazine its readers come from all genres of the musical profession and all age groups. The book launch was at Ronnie Scotts famous jazz club in London where we had the honour and delight of reading out a personal letter from Ex President Bill Clinton who is now an avid reader also.
To those who may still be cautious at having to read a lot of technical jargon we assure you that is not so; neither does the book try and sell you anything. It works on 3 levels: initially there are short articles on the materials used, design attributes and facings of the various mouthpieces; also a couple of quite hilarious stories, then the reader can find individual specifications for mouthpieces that they might be interested in. Lastly the pages are peppered with 'food for thought' and 'tips' that will hopefully keep the musical imagination on its toes and discourage the mouthpiece maniac. These are taken from a publication that is recommended reading for Presidential Scholars in the USA. Photographs are one of the most attractive and commented upon attributes of the publication and we can proudly boast that consultants in the fashion industry have said that it is the sexiest little book they have seen; ready to steal from any coffee table.
