This is where it all began for Backun, the barrel that started a revolution in sound and aesthetic, as such this model is named the New Traditional barrel.

  • Produced in Canada.

I had heard/read in various places that you can improve the sound of your clarinet by upgrading the barrel. I have to admit I was a little sceptical about how much difference it would make, but the weight of evidence persuaded me to buy the Backun Traditional barrel.
It was a sound choice. Everything seemed so much smoother, with a far nicer tone.
I am a beginner, and one of the best things is it seems to even the pressure between the upper & low register.
The upgrade is not instantly going make me a professional player, but the improved sound lead me to play until my jaw nearly fell off!
I probably practice twice as long now, if not more. So I would recommend upgrading your barrel....what they say is true!
Backum don't list it in their 'fit list' but for reference it matches up with B & H Emperor just fine
