Well known and regarded in the Bass trombone world the 181 offers a big warm sound from the 10 rose brass bell and a good quality tuning scale. A serious instrument without a horrific price tag.
Holton began from a two room Chicago shop in 1898. A prominent pro player at the time he first had success with his slide oil formula which is still used worldwide today.
Soon Holton began experiments to improve brasswind instrument designs and by 1900 the Frank Holton Company was manufacturing a broad range of instruments including Trombones and Cornets. The company expanded and in 1917 moved to Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where it has remained as one of Americas specialist Brass manufacturers.
Clear lacquer, key of Bb/F/Gb/D, double in-line independent rotor system, .562 bore, 10 rose brass bell, supplied in a hard shaped case.
