The Alto Clarinet is a beautiful instrument with its own unique and distinctive tone. Used primarily in Clarinet Choirs, Military & Concert Bands, it feels like a mini-Bass but with a higher pitched voice and character. This is a nice example of a pre-owned Selmer Paris Series 9 wooden Alto Clarinet.
In terms of options on Alto Clarinet it was for many years either a cheap (and slightly nasty) US made plastic model, or more recently the odd Chinese unbranded models which are generally horrific to play and own, OR a very expensive wooden model. As the Alto Clarinet is usually a Clarinet players 2nd or 3rd instrument, most people don't want to spend over £5,000 on the Yamaha wooden model, or £9,000 on the Buffet.
As such, finding a nice condition pre-owned model, wooden, made in France, is a real treat. This Selmer Alto Clarinet has been well maintained and cared for. The wood, pads, keywork and crook are all in good clean order and the instrument has been fully checked, set-up and prepared in our workshop prior to sale.
This model is comparable with the Yamaha model (around £5,300) and as such at a fraction that price it makes it a very attractive option for anyone wanting to pick up an Alto Clarinet. This is a 'life' purchase, in that with careful use and care this Selmer Alto Clarinet should last longer than you and I. In summary this is a wonderful example of a wooden high quality Alto Clarinet at half the price of a new equivalent model. Supplied with the case & mouthpiece, fully workshop checked, cleaned and set-up prior to sale.
