This is a nice condition Yamaha YTS-875 Custom model ideal for the advancing Saxophonist. The Custom model is hand made and produced in the famous Hammamatsu factory in Japan at Yamaha HQ. Only the most experienced artisans are permitted to work on these Custom models which results in years of experience and craftsmanship being present in each model.
The 875 offers a very flexible and responsive sound, from the quietest whisper to the loudest roar and in classical or jazz/pop environments it can really do it all. The ergonomics are meticulously designed which leads to the Sax feeling extremely comfortable under the fingers, this can be a great advantage when faced with demanding repertoire.
The brass is hand hammered and annealed which leads to a fantastic resonance across the range of the instrument. This instrument is supplied with a brand new Yamaha V1 neck, which has a larger bore than standard with this model, this makes the sax extremely free blowing and adds a flexibility and huge dynamic range to the instrument.
This particular example is in good nice clean condition and has been well maintained. As usual with Yamaha the lacquer is in excellent condition, with just some medium signs of scratching from normal use as shown in the images. The key work feels smooth and positive under the hands. Although Yamaha primarily market this Sax towards the more classical genre it's interesting that there are a good number of top pop/funk/modern players that are using these models as well so as mentioned before they really can do it all.
This would be an excellent buy for any advancing Saxophonist wanting a very versatile professional model that is a joy to play, hassle free to own and very flexible in tone.
