Welcome to The Workshop, the beating heart of Dawkes Music. With over 100 years of combined repair experience in our technical team, true passion for the craft overflows and shines through. Our dedicated on-site 2,000 sq.ft workshop is equipped with both woodwind and brass expertise and experience, ready to support you on your musical journey.

Our friendly team of technicians are here every day to assist with all your technical needs including advice, assessments, diagnosis, emergency repairs, routine servicing, maintenance and custom modifications. We offer appointments so you can book at a time that suits you.

Dawkes Repair History - est 1966

Jack Dawkes founded his company as a repair business, where he carried out maintenance and repairs for his fellow musicians. At Dawkes we all enjoy playing music and continue Jack's legacy through our compassionate and enthusiastic approach to repairs.

The Dawkes Workshop is renowned for highly skilled and informed repair approaches. As we provide spare parts, materials and training to the international repair community. Our relationships with suppliers and tool makers allow us to find bespoke solutions for the individual player or fellow repairer.

Our close relationship with schools, music services, professional players and the repair community mean we are familiar with all walks of musical life, and enjoy accommodating the wide variety of repair needs that come our way. Whether it’s working to a deadline or a budget, we put the musician first and celebrate our trusted position on the UK repair stage.

In 2024 our Workshop had a major expansion as part of the Dawkes renovations which doubled the overall size of the premises. New space was made for extra benches to accommodate our growing team, plus we invested in extra tooling to provide the very best service. Our amazing new space allows customers to see our team in action, plus gives us the space to keep growing our team.

Sharing Yamaha's commitment to craft and service, our highly experienced specialists are carefully chosen for their ability to help you find the instrument that is right for you, and ensure it remains in perfect playing condition with specialist our on-site repair workshop in Maidenhead.

REPAIR CONSULTATIONS

We are here to help when your instrument needs emergency or minor repairs. Small issues can prevent you from playing at all - we offer one-to-one repair consultations where one of our experienced technicians will endeavour to get you back in action while you wait.

SERVICING

Routine maintenance is important to keep your instrument performing to a high standard. We recommend some level of servicing every 12 - 24 months to address normal wear and tear, mechanical faults and deterioration of consumables. A service will leave your instrument looking and playing like new again.

We offer different levels of service to suit your individual needs, repair consultations can be booked for a free of charge assessment and estimate of what maintenance work we would recommend.

CUSTOMISING

We enjoy facilitating the aesthetic aspirations of our customers including lacquer and plating work, as well as fabricating parts. Modifying keywork for individual needs is very fulfilling and interesting work and we welcome any challenge
