My son hasn't tried the Trevor James Alpha Sax yet because it's a Christmas gift. But based on reviews on the instrument (and comments from my son's music teacher) I would expect it to be a perfect match for a small beginner (my 12 year old son is about the size of a 6 year old). I'm not expecting any issues. If there are any issues I have no doubt the Dawkes staff will resolve them quickly. The Dawkes customer service is amazing.

The book begins with the basics and progresses slowly by adding additional notes every couple of lessons. It also provides helpful tips with each lesson and introduces you to musical symbols with each lesson. The exercises for each lesson precede short songs that reinforce the lesson for that unit.
