Vandoren Optimum Bb Clarinet Ligature with Plastic Cap LC01P

Really p,eased with both items. New to clarinet playing so their advice is much appreciated.

I like the ligature - matches the reviews I read

This ligature was recommended to my son by clarinetist Florent Heau (although he uses Vandoren MO gold). It has a very good sound compared to his Vandoren Leather ligature, in fact a big difference in terms of sound quality. My son really loves it. He even finds it easier to blow compared to his leather ligature. My only disappointment with this product is that when we took it out from the box we found it discolored on the top part of the ring. You don't expect this after paying that amount of money. I didn't want to return it for a different one just because my son wanted to use it immediately and also didn't find the time to take it to the post office but it would have been nicer to have an all-silver-and-new looking ligature. My son really loves its sound and didn't want to part with it even for a short time. Only for that reason I would give it a three star, but as I said, it has an excellent sound.

The supplier responded:Hi, Many thanks for your recent order and feedback. We're delighted that your son really loves the ligature. With regards the tarnishing it's useful to get that feedback, we have seen a couple of these silver plated ligatures tarnish slightly in their box storage and it's something that can quickly be remedied with a small polish with a silver cloth. We believe the bags they come in maybe making the plating tarnish slightly in storage/transit so have raised this with Vandoren. Ideally we'd be able to unpack and check each item in every order before it goes out but with hundreds of outbound orders a day it would slow the despatch process down too much unfortunately. Of course we're happy to exchange the item but as you mentioned your son enjoys playing it so you may prefer just to give it a little polish and it will take care of it. The Ligature is beautiful, it is a gift for a work colleague and I am sure she is going to love it.

Just experimenting with different ligatures.
I could have done with some instructions as there were none in the box.
i returned this as it didnt seem better than my original.however, the quality seemed good.

I have just started using the optimum ligature, as a relatively new player I didn't expect a change of ligature to make such a difference.. It really does! It has made my tone more enjoyable and therefore my enjoyment in playing has also increased!
