This latest version of the ever popular YAS-62 benefits from all the expertise and legendary manufacturing quality of Yamaha Japans best artisans.
Suitable for a wide variety of playing styles the Yamaha 62 Alto Sax is arguably the measuring stick we hold all other Saxophones against. The latest model features a 62 Neck which has a slightly narrower bore than the previous model, this ensures the intonation from top to bottom is very controllable and bang in tune. It also gives the 62 a more centred solid sound.
As ever the strength of the 62 comes from the core brass chosen to make it and also the integrated keyposts that run down the whole length of the body and join the key pillars to the main tube. These added brass plates offer solidity to both the build and tone.
The 62 also benefits from the latest Yamaha advancement to the low B/C# connection ensuring the stability of the low notes, and it also features a professional neck receiver meaning players can add on any of the Yamaha Custom necks at a later date, perhaps for example adding a V1 which comes with the 82Z series would give the YAS-62 a bigger, brighter sound for a more experienced player.
All in all it's hard to go wrong with a Yamaha 62 Alto Sax...whether it be grades, classical, jazz, swing, funk, pop this is the model that really can do it all with ease, and it's got to be the most user friendly Sax on the market. I am not an experienced saxophone player, having only started learning the tenor saxophone just over six months ago. I like to practice when I can but It has not been possible to do so when I travel. So I decided to buy the alto which is more portable and can take with me. I could have gone for the beginner grade saxophone but decided on the YAS 62 which should still be suitable while I progress. I am very pleased with the build quality of the saxophone and the service from Dawkes is always first class, in my experience. My only suggestion is that it would have been a nice gesture if Dawkes had included a couple of free reeds. However, I certainly recommend Dawkes.
I wanted to upgrade to a new Yamaha yas 62, from a Yamaha yts 62. Dawkes arranged a try out in thier sound booth and valued my old instrument. I liked the new sax and arranged the exchange. I alway like visiting Dawkes even just to buy a reed, so I can look around the displays and see all the lovely instruments.
Excellent instrument and will last my daughter all her playing days!
