The newly revised Yamaha Custom Z model introduces the latest Yamaha structural technology and other features refined through countless evaluations by Bobby Shew and the Yamaha R&D team. This iconic Z model began life as a 6310Z and has been through two modifications to reach this current level.Whilst maintaining many of the design features that made the original 8310Z trumpet so unique, the new 8310Z has an updated leadpipe and the weight of the two piece valve casing block has been increased. These modifications combine to offer enhanced tonal richness and depth, with an optimal level of resistance.
The new 8310Z also features new finger buttons and modified bottom caps. The 3rd tuning slide mechanism also benefits from a longer slide stopper screw for more secure use and a soldered stopper ring.
All in all these modifications have been made with feedback from Bobby Shew and the Yamaha R&D team to further enhance the playability and response, and cement this model as the number one choice for modern commercial and jazz Trumpeters.

This is an excellent trumpet at a reasonable price and sounds wonderful in all registers . It is also easy to play . It has more core than the previous model even though the Yamaha Z 2 was already a very good trumpet . this is primarily a trumpet for Jazz it is excellent as a solo classical trumpet too with many colours .
Wow!! Firstly the case. It has a look and feel of something solid enough to protect the contents, yet stylish in appearance, and practical in design with its carrying straps and handles. Inside, there’s room for two trumpets to fit snugly within two protected compartments. This trumpet feels special and looks faultlessly made. It’s incredibly lightweight, the tuning slides run smoothly, and valves spring quickly. There’s a subtle rose tint to the lead pipe suggesting careful choice of materials, although the use of plastic rather than cork in the water keys whilst unusual in appearance and perhaps functional in their stepped design are certainly less absorbent. Playing it is a dream, with a true sense of effortless sound, and with the Bobby Shew Jazz mouthpiece included high register notes seem confidently easy. Play it gently and it, for me, gives a rich, mellow, sound. Go for higher notes, and it gives the kind of piercing notes with an edge I’m looking for. Overall, to me, a perfect trumpet.
