The Vandoren Jumbo Java Blue Ebonite Alto Saxophone mouthpiece is quite simply the hardest hitting, punchiest, brightest, in your face model that Vandoren produce. It is a ridiculously fun mouthpiece to play, in that it takes no prisoners, but offers serious amounts of craziness in the projection, liveliness and tone.

This mouthpiece is designed to play heavy duty funk, pop, salsa, rock and more. This is NOT for playing your grades on, or in any sort of 'respectable' situation. It may frighten your neighbours, but that's half the joy! In many ways it offers all the bite, projection and power of the very best metal mouthpieces but in a more comfortable ebonite feel.

The Jumbo Java has a small chamber, a very high and aggressive baffle and a large bore. The tip opening is 220 (1/100ths mm) and the facing is medium long. The resulting tone is everything you would except from those specs and then some. However, because the tip isn't wildly large the mouthpiece is surprisingly controllable and easy to keep in check from an intonation point of view.
