We do NOT see many of these beauties but what an important and beautiful Saxophone it is. These Adolphe Sax models are very similar to the Selmer 26 and whilst it's not wholly clear who was making what, it's generally understood that these were actually produced by Selmer under license.
In 1921 Selmer began branding their own instruments as the Selmer Model 22, and later the Model 26 which this Adolphe Sax model is extremely similar to. There was a relationship in place with the son of Adolphe Sax (Adolphe-Edouard) who was running a French production operation of Saxophones which Selmer later went on to purchase in full around 1927.
In original lacquer, this is not only a piece of history (with limited quantity remaining in the world) but it also has a fantastic vintage Tenor sound, unlike anything you would find on a modern instrument. Yes, the layout is more rudimentary, but it is still absolutely capable of playing to the highest level today.
The instrument has been well cared for over the years, it has also been fully checked, set-up and serviced in our workshop prior to sale. This ensures the instrument is blowing amazingly all the way from low Bb upwards! Like all our pre-owned models it benefits from a 6 month warranty and you can also try the instrument on home using our 14 day approval option (simply buy outright and try at home to make sure you're happy).
