In 1921 Selmer began branding their own instruments as the Selmer Model 22, and later the Model 26 which this Adolphe Sax model is extremely similar to. There was a relationship in place with the son of Adolphe Sax (Adolphe-Edouard) who was running a French production operation of Saxophones which Selmer later went on to purchase in full around 1927.
At the time of writing we also have the 443 serial no. model and here we have yet another gorgeous Selmer Adolphe tenor Sax no.448! The chances of that happening are very slim to say the least. What's also particularly unique about this is they are only 5 digits apart in their serial numbers.
For it's age this vintage saxophone is a sight to behold and sports the original lacquer which is in excellent condition. As you'd expect on such a horn there a some signs of wear on the keys and body however it's been kept immaculate by the previous owner. Here at Dawkes, our fabulously talented workshop team have refurbished the saxophone to have it in optimum playing order.
In essence this beautiful saxophone purrs like a kitten if it was a vintage car!
