The new Vocalise Bass Clarinet mouthpieces by Backun are a hugely welcome addition to the marketplace. Bass Clarinet can be a tricky instrument sometimes and the combination of mouthpiece and reed is critical to a smooth, consistent sound from top to bottom of the instrument.

The Backun Vocalise Bass Clarinet mouthpieces have been designed by world-renowned mouthpiece maker, player and educator Richard Hawkins. They are precision made using the latest CNC machinery to ensure absolute consistency. The proprietary hard rubber (ebonite) compound is unique to Backun and helps contribute to the beautifully rich and resonant tone.

Available in a variety of sizes (see info below) the Vocalise ebonite bass clarinet mouthpieces are suitable for use in all manner of genres and work equally well with cane or synthetic reeds. Finally a great choice in the Bass Clarinet mouthpiece world that meets the demands of modern players.

R Model:

  • Very stable due to the close tip opening, this R model is ideal for newer players and students. Centred and controlled
G Model:

  • Facing Length: Medium
  • A warm and centred core. A nice balance between the tip opening and facing length make this very playable throughout the whole range with decent projection and richness.
H Model: 
  • Tip Opening: Open
  • Facing Length: Long
  • Suitable for more experienced players wanting a more open set-up. Offers a large, broad tone with plenty of projection.
