The Buffet R13 Prestige is a fantastic upgrade professional model for the advancing Clarinet player. The Prestige range offers the highest quality selected wood for a pure and even response with plenty of colour in the tone. They are highly respected by professionals around the world and can be found in leading orchestras as the Clarinet of choice. Like all our second hand clarinets they both have been fully checked and set-up prior to sale so you can buy in total confidence.
These particular instruments are in excellent overall condition - the wood condition is very good as is the silver plating on the keywork. The A has had the top two right hand trill key pads replaced with fresh white leather pads, along with the C#/G# key and side Eb/Bb key pads which have been replaced with cork pads. The Bb has undergone a full re-pad and had a whole new set of white leather pads fitted, in addition to a handful of keys on the top joint having been replated and refitted. Supplied with the pair is a Buffet branded student mouthpiece and silver plated mouthpiece cap, but no ligature. The Bb is supplied with a 66mm barrel, whilst the A comes with a 65mm barrel.
The R13 Prestige is based around the original R13 design but with various spec and quality control improvements. The wood is higher quality with only the purest unblemished pieces being selected. This wood is then left unstained and is not heavily treated allowing the tone to speak more clearly. The bore shaping is a multi-step process, essentially this is to ensure the evenness of tone and scale across the whole range of the instrument. The extra steps take more time, are more accurate and can only be completed by the most experienced craftsmen in the factory.
