The new equivalent of the Yamaha YFL-211 (the YFL-212) is the student flute most UK teachers recommend and the one most beginners start on. Yamaha's consistency is the reason: the scale is reliable, the mechanism is well made and every instrument plays the same way.

It has an easy, responsive headjoint that helps a beginner produce a sound quickly, and a clean, even tone across the range. The keywork is robust and sensibly laid out, and it is light enough for a young player to hold comfortably. It will take a player from a first lesson through to around Grade 5.

This particular example is in good condition. The silver plating is fully intact with a decent amount of hairline scratches across the whole body, which is to be expected for an older student level flute especially as this is an ex-rental instrument. The tenon joints fit together nicely and are not too tight or too loose. The pads are yellow skin and are in very good condition. Like all our pre-owned instruments it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale by one of our experienced technicians, so you can buy with total confidence.
