The Gonzalez RC Tenor saxophone reeds have a classic, French style filing.
Extremely popular due to their consistency and price, the Gonzalez RC reed gives an immediate response with a plesaing sound. Strength is similar to Rico Orange box and about 1/2 a strength under Vandoren blue box. The Gonzalez RC work great with Yamaha plastic 4C, 5C and 6C mouthpieces.
The material is stored to age for at least 18 months before its manufacture.Its shallow shoulders have a closed half moon shape. This helps to maintain the tuning despite being an extremely flexible and spontaneous cane.
These reeds are made on a segment of 4.0mm. Rectified to 3.5 mm. this leaves the scraping in the most vibrant area of the reed and produces a very brilliant sound.

Even and constant quality of reeds
I love these reeds. The sound is somehow dark but lively. Very consistent. Watch out for the strength. This reeds are harder. The best way IMO to think about them is 1/2 strength harder than Vandoren V16. So if you play a 31/2 go for a 3 on Gonzalez RC. They are very responsive and that’s misguiding, because even when you buy the wrong strength they will still respond but might sound quite dull. They last a LOT!!
