Hans Hoyer horns are made in Germany and belong to a long tradition of horn manufacturing. Hans Hoyer founded the company in 1929 and established a global reputation for quality, and the instruments are still made largely by hand today. The 801 has been built for decades and remains the mainstay of the Hoyer range.

It is a full F/Bb double in the Geyer style, with a .468 inch bore, a hand hammered medium-large throat bell of around 310mm, four rotary valves and a gold brass leadpipe. The Geyer wrap gives an even, free response that many players prefer to the Kruspe layout, and the 3D adjustable finger hook and adjustable thumb lever mean the horn can be set up properly for the individual. It is designed to serve a player from advancing student right through to aspiring professional, which is a large part of why it has stayed in the range so long.

This particular example is in fair overall condition. The rotors move freely and don't feel too heavy when depressed. There is a tiny dent near leadpipe to body brace. Some larger scratches can be seen at various points around the bell and on the first loop. Like all our pre-owned instruments it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale by one of our experienced technicians, so you can buy with total confidence.

It is supplied with the original Hans Hoyer shaped hard case and Paxman 4B mouthpiece. This version of the 801 comes with a fixed bell so the hard shell case resembles that shape.
