King 3B - Tenor Trombone (582758)
Product Information
The King 3B is a classic, and one of the most versatile tenor trombones you can buy. King have been making brass instruments since 1894, and the 3B has been a favourite with jazz and commercial players for decades. It is a great option for any modern player who has to cover a variety of styles in different groups.
With a slightly larger bore and bell than the classic 2B, the 3B has a broader, more spread sound, which gives it a different tonal concept to its smaller sibling. The .508 inch bore keeps it responsive and agile, the bell gives it room to open up, and the nickel outer slides are durable and quick under the hand. It is at home in modern jazz, big band, funk and function work, and suits anyone from an advancing student to a working player.
This particular example was purchased from new in New York, USA, in 1973. The ornate bell engraving is from this era too. It is in a fair condition. The plating is actually mostly in tact. Most of the touch pieces, however, are covered with a layer of tape to prevent any more lacquer loss in these areas. The slide bow has also been replaced during the service. Used by a former member of the BBC Scottish Radio Orchestra for a number of years, it has certainly had an interesting past life. Why not take a bit of that history and add to it?
Like all our pre-owned trombones it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale, with the playing slide and main tuning slide checked, aligned and lubricated, so you can buy with total confidence.
It is supplied with the original King hard case. No mouthpiece is included. At this price it represents a considerable saving on the new equivalent.
