This is a beautiful piece of pre-owned American vintage Saxophone history. This Martin ‘Handcraft’ Tenor Saxophone was made in 1933 and it truly does sound unique when compared to modern Saxophones. It has the ability to really shout but also play in that stylish sub-tone American ‘bluesy’ vibe when required.

We have put the instrument through our workshop before sale, it’s been well maintained over the years. The keywork does of course feel a little different if you're compared to modern Saxophones, you'll notice from the pics the bell keys are split over either side of the bell. These are all things you can get used to quickly, albeit if you're playing extremely fast passages of music then a modern horn does have the advantage.

However, you don't buy a Martin Handcraft to play rapid modern music. You buy and play a Martin for the fun, unique tone which is packed full of character. These instruments were made in a golden era of American Sax manufacturing by brands such as Conn, King and indeed Martin. As with many of these brands the premium quality models were in the 20's and 30's before they were slowly watered down to save costs.

This particular instrument has aged well, albeit there are obvious signs of wear and tear aesthetically on the lacquer and body, but these are all solely aesthetic concerns, from a playing and tonal point of view this is a really fun and unique instrument.
