The classic Otto Link 'Tone Edge' ebonite model for Tenor Sax has been a favourite of many players for decades. Designed and produced in the USA at the JJ.Babbitt company, the 'Tone Edge' offers players a rich, classic Tenor Sax sound.

The ebonite compound, large chamber, long facing and gentle baffle design results in a mouthpiece with lots of darkness and density in the sound. Ideal for smaller group ensembles and jazz playing, the Otto Link 'Tone Edge' is still one of the most popular for Tenor Sax.

There is also an Otto Link 'Vintage' model in production which offers a more vibrant and powerful tone, possibly with the loss of some of the subtlety of the 'Tone Edge'. Where possible we advise players trying them back-to-back to see which best suits them. We offer 14 day approval on mouthpieces to allow this home-testing period.

The 'Tone Edge' ebonite model is available in the following tip openings:

Nice sound, sax is much more rounded - less like a goose!

Explained to the Professor what sounds I was after from my TJ-SR tenor sax and he gave me three to try. I quickly dismissed the Windcraft one as it was very much a "Big Band" sound. It was more difficult to choose between the Weinberg and Link mouthpieces but finally settled on the Otto Link one for its more rounded seductive tones.

Great

I had a 4 on approval from Dawkes plus a Meyer 4MM and Yamaha 4C Custom. Very useful to compare on 7 days approval. The Yamaha (square chamber type C) was too classical for me, I was very tempted by the responsiveness of the Meyer (open round chamber type A), but chose the Otto Link (open round type A) for its deep, rounded, lush tone.
