The Schreiber S16 Bassoon is a great first 'standard sized' Bassoon purchase option for the advancing young student. It is produced in Germany from hand-selected Alpine maple. This Bassoon features a 25 key silver plated German system (full spec below). We'd suggest this is an instrument designed for young players moving up from a short-reach or cheaper student model. It has the spec to play until the later grades, and would only need to be upgraded for high-level playing.
This S16 Schreiber Bassoon has excellent intonation throughout and a wonderfully flexible tone. From this model upwards the Schreiber Bassoons all have a whisper key lock, a second ring-finger Bb key and a C# trill key for the left hand index finger.
The manufacturing of Bassoons is the Schreiber firms speciality and they are a leading brand in the field. Highly qualified and experienced craftsmen produce an instrument that is made to last and offers easy response, perfect intonation and a beautiful sound.
