Selmer Paris are at the origin of the revival of the baroque trumpet, and this is the instrument that did it. The Selmer piccolo was developed in close collaboration with Maurice André himself, first appearing with three valves in 1959, with the fourth valve added in 1967 at André's request. He played it for effectively his entire career, and it remains the great reference in the history of the piccolo trumpet.

It offers a rich sound with well balanced tuning across all the registers, and an easy, centred blow that holds together particularly well at the top, which is exactly where a piccolo has to work. The ergonomics are excellent and the projection is ideal for the baroque repertoire it was built to serve. It is supplied in Bb and A, so it covers the standard repertoire without compromise. For a player who needs a piccolo for Bach, Handel or orchestral work, this is a great deal of instrument for the money.

This particular example is in good condition. The original lacquer is mostly in tact bar a few blemishes on the bell and leadpipe. Like all our pre-owned instruments it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale by one of our experienced technicians, so you can buy with total confidence.

It is supplied with the original Selmer Paris hard case and both Bb and A leadpipes. Original Selmer B0 mouthpiece included.
