The Vandoren V12 reeds are manufactured from cane tubes with the same diameter as cane used for alto saxophone reeds. As a result, they have a thicker heel and are cut on a longer palette with a slightly thicker tip than the Traditional. This is well suited to mouthpieces with a longer lay, the longer palette means that more of the reed is vibrating, resulting in a deeper, richer sound. The thicker tip gives body to the attack and also increases the longevity of the reed.
However, if used on a mouthpiece with a short lay it can therefore have an unclear sound.

Speedy service - thank you.
The reeds are fine quality.
As reliable as reeds ever are . . .
The longer lay is said to make them more suitable for the Selmer Concept mouthpiece but so far I have found this strength a bit less free blowing that the V12 - 3.
It\'s early days. The first reed was brilliant. The second good but less so. I\'ll have to see how I get on with subsequent reeds.
good quality, well-packaged reeds, good sound
These are the best reeds for me, but it all depends on your mouthpiece, style of playing, and so on.
As good as they ever are.
As recommended excellent response and intonation when used with Selmer Concept mouthpiece
Consistent reeds with a strong and focused sound.
