The Yamaha YOB-421 is a wooden intermediate oboe, made from grenadilla with a simplified conservatoire key system and a semi-automatic octave mechanism. It sits well above the ABS student models and was the predecessor to the current 431 in the Yamaha range.

The rich tone of a grenadilla body is a major step up from a plastic instrument, and that matters on oboe more than on almost anything else. It has great stability on all notes and the even, accurate intonation Yamaha are known for, so a player can concentrate on their sound and phrasing rather than fighting the pitch. This instrument will suit a student working through the higher grades, from around Grade 5 to Grade 8, or an enthusiastic amateur who wants a wooden instrument that will not hold them back.

This particular example is in excellent condition with both the wood and keywork looking splendid. Like all our pre-owned instruments it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale by one of our experienced technicians, so you can buy with total confidence.

It is supplied with the original Yamaha hard inner and leather-style outer case. A small, refillable, pot of cork grease is included. No swabs, cloths or reeds are provided.
