The 400 series trombones are Pro models in every way except their price.The bore and bell sizes are the same as professional models, and they boast a handcrafted assembly which you would normally only find in a top-of-the-line trombone. The YSL-448ECN is a large bore straight Bb trombone. A medium-large bore version is also available (YSL-446GECN).
One of the latest additions added to the already very successful Yamaha model line-up, the YSL-448GECN offers the player a brilliant step up. The gold brass bell featured on this model is normally a benefit found on professional models only and added to that the exceptional slide action it is an extremely good value for money package.

Great horn, I got this instrument as a returning player to trombone as my local orchestra needed a trombone. The slide is nice and fluid and the tone has a nice spread to it and is flexible enough to go from sharp and piercing to soft and broad. The rotary valve is reliable but does introduce a little resistance when open so requires some adjustment however this is only minor. The case is solid and very protective but doesn’t have a massive amount of space. There is enough room for lubricants and cloths though and a second slot for an extra mouthpiece. There is an outer slide cleaning rod supplied with it which has its own slot in the case. For anything else I tend to use my mute bag for storage. The quality of the horn and case is solid and well made. I can see this instrument lasting for a long time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a workhorse horn at great value for money. As usual Dawkes delivered the instrument promptly and remains as my top choice when purchasing anything music related.
