For many years the jazz Trombone market was dominated by the American brands such as King, Bach and Conn. In the last decade or so, Yamaha have made huge strides into the market. With a combination of enhanced engineering and input from top world renowned artists, the Yamaha small bore Tenor Trombone Z models can compete seriously with the King, Bach and Conns.
The YSL-891Z was designed with Wycliffe Gordon and Andy Martin, with a reversed main tuning slide and a yellow one piece bell. It is similar in spec to the King 3B, with a .508 inch bore, but it blows quite differently. It has a certain warmth, evenness and fluidity to the sound that many players appreciate.
The YSL-891Z Supplied with 2 leadpipes, a NY and LA. The NY, designed alongside Wycliffe Gordon is longer than the LA. They both offer different resistance and responses, we'd encourage you to test them back to back to see which suits you and your mouthpiece.
