The Yanagisawa range represents exceptional build quality and value, and the A991 is the model that fought it out with the Yamaha 62 for top position in the upgrade alto market for over twenty years. Made in Japan, it was replaced by the AW series around 2015, with the new equivalent being the AWO10 model.

The A991 has a classic brass body, as opposed to the darker bronze of the 992, along with the underslung neck mechanism for a very free and direct blow and the strong ribbed construction running down the body that add weight and density to the tone. It is a genuinely versatile saxophone, as happy in jazz as in classical playing, with very solid tuning. It is hard to go wrong with one of these.

This particular example is in excellent condition with the majority of the lacquer in tact. A few scratches can be seen on the body and bell of the instrument but they aren't too noticable from a glance. The keywork is as tight and positive as any other Yanagisawa saxophone. Like all our pre-owned instruments it has been fully checked and set up in our workshop prior to sale by one of our experienced technicians, so you can buy with total confidence.

It is supplied with the original Yanagisawa case (older new style). NO mouthpiece is included. At this price it represents a considerable saving on the new equivalent, and it is ready to play from the moment it arrives.
