AIZEN SO Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece – Product Description
The AIZEN SO alto saxophone mouthpiece is based on the vintage Selmer Soloist models, handmade in Japan with a round chamber and short shank. Brighter than AIZEN's NY model, the SO delivers a warm yet punchy tone with an even, centered character that works equally well in classical and jazz contexts. The C* opening offers a more classic tone comparable to a vintage Selmer C* or Vandoren AL4, making it a superb all-rounder.
The design features a high baffle that supports crisp, articulate playing while maintaining the warmth the vintage Soloist models were known for. Free-blowing and effortless, it's popular in its 6 and 7 tip openings for jazz work, though it's equally at home in big band and wind ensemble settings. The even, centered tone translates naturally across all registers, from lyrical passages to driving section work, with secure intonation throughout.
The SO alto represents AIZEN's response to players seeking the Selmer Soloist character with modern consistency. It's bright enough to punch through in any section, yet voiced to deliver the kind of rounded warmth that works in both straight-ahead jazz and classical contexts. A genuine versatile choice for players who refuse to compromise on playability.
