Boosey & Hawkes (UK Models) Clarinet Pad Set

Standard pad set for an old B & H 926 clarinet. All pads fit ok, no complaints. However my order was inadvertently exchanged for an order for a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece should have gone to a UK address and the pads to Australia. This resulted in returning the mouthpiece (involving an overseas postage charge by me, and subsequent re-reimbursement for that charge by Dawkes to me. ) All this took over two months to sort out, with international postage having three deliveries to undertake. But now all is well. I have replaced leaking pads and enjoying easier playing. In the meantime I, having to work harder to play, have probably developed a more powerful breathing system. The website says “ Clarinet pad set to fit most UK Boosey and Hawkes clarinet models”….. I bought a B&H Regent clarinet from the late 1970’s second-hand at an auction as I thought I would try to learn to play, and I thought I would try to re-pad it myself, as it would not be worth spending the money getting it done professionally, bearing in mind the value of the instrument …. Big mistake….. there is a disclaimer on the website that says “ To be sure you get the exact pads for your model we advise individually measuring each pad cup and ordering the sizes singularly. Dawkes cannot accept any responsibility for any pad sizes in a set that do not fit for your particular model. We are unable to swap sizes or provide extra pads after the purchase.”…. Of course, more than half the pads don’t fit, so I have wasted my money…. It is sharp practice to sell a set of pads with that kind of disclaimer…. Dawkes should not be selling these pads in sets, unless they can be a bit more specific about which B&H models they will fit…..It’s my mistake, and I feel a bit foolish, but I am dissapointed that I have wasted my money and now I have an instrument that doesn’t play…. Don’t make the same mistake… do NOT buy a set of pads…. They don’t even give you the measurements of the pads in the set…. So even if you measure your pads, you won’t know whether the set is any good for your requirements.
