The JodyJazz DV Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece represents a breakthrough in metal mouthpiece design, engineered using Jody Espina's patented Golden Section Proportions found in nature. The DV delivers the projection and brightness of a modern alto mouthpiece whilst eliminating the shrillness typically associated with bright designs. The result is a free-blowing, responsive instrument with remarkable versatility—capable of both powerful projection and warm, intimate tone across all registers.
Built from gold-plated brass with a proprietary secondary window chamber design, the DV achieves an extraordinary balance of effortless playing with authentic jazz character. The mouthpiece features a raised chamber floor that produces clarity and projection, whilst the perfectly-profiled facing curve delivers clean articulation and no dead spots in reed vibration. Players report easy access to altissimo, fat low-end response with solid centering, and the ability to voice the tone from bright and cutting to warm and dark within the same mouthpiece.
The DV Alto comes with a Rovner Star Series Ligature so it's ready to play immediately. Available in five tip openings (5–9), the mouthpiece suits players seeking a contemporary metal alto with full harmonic content and effortless response. Note that the free-blowing nature of the DV typically requires a slightly harder reed than traditional designs.
