When creating the Jody Jazz DV there were three main priorities for Jody Espina the designer:
 
  1. To create the most efficient sax mouthpiece possible. That means that there are more harmonics present in the sound and therefore the projection of this Tenor sax mouthpiece is huge.
  2. To eliminate the annoying shrillness that is associated with loud bright Tenor saxophone mouthpieces.
  3. To have a big fat mid-range and bottom end that has never been present before in a Tenor sax mouthpiece with strong projection.
We love this DV model for Tenor Sax. It brings all the positive things of a great metal mouthpiece (power, focus and punch) without the bad (shrill, hard to control, weak low register). It's not cheap, but nor should it be. The production skill and quality is second to none, from the internal bore shaping and design which balances the whole mouthpiece and provides a great mix of volume and power, to the tip and rails which are all perfectly finished. This is a serious bit of kit that will deliver when you need it, every time.
