Product Information

PLEASE READ: This particular example is in excellent condition having been used very sparingly as a manufacturer display model. It comes complete with a hard double case with cover. The Legacy has a rich, luxurious tone, ideally suited to A clarinet repertoire.

The Legacy model was produced just a few years ago when Leblanc collaborated with Morrie Backun (of Backun Clarinets). At this time the French Leblanc operation had shut down after years of production. The company was purchased by Conn-Selmer, the US instrument powerhouse, and they teamed up with Backun who had the expertise and production capacity to create a range of 'new' style Leblanc Clarinets.

The Legacy model was the flagship model in this new range. Produced to the highest standards and with arguably the finest grenadilla wood available on the market (Backun had a stock of premium wood which others only dreamt of), this Legacy was on a par with the Buffet Tosca, Selmer Recital etc.

The Legacy design features a highly customised grenadilla body with undercut, integral tone holes and a specially crafted Traditional model Backun barrel and a Backun bell. The bore shaping is multi-stepped and of the highest precision due to the cutting edge technology used in the production of these models. The keywork sits beautifully under the fingers and the Clarinet comes with the additional left hand Eb key as usual on top models.

After a few short years the Leblanc/Backun partnership ended, partly due to the stratospheric rise of Backuns own models and no doubt due to the clash of interest in that relationship dynamic. We sold a number of the Legacy models and as such it's nice to have this example in stock.
