Hi there - first of all would like to say the helpfulness from staff at Dawkes and speediness of delivery after ordering was fabulous. - it arrived the next day The Meyer mouthpiece was mid range at price of £180 - one of the reasons I chose it was because it is a good make and came with a ligature - I was replacing the original Yamaha mouth piece that came with the alto sax £40. The ligature that came with this Meyer product is absolutely rubbish made from the cheapest, bendiest metal and screws which doesnt even fit the mouthpiece. I am therefore using the original ligature which came with the original Yamaha mouthpiece (£40 worth!) which is of a far far superior quality. Disappointing wouldnt order anything Meyer again!
The supplier responded:Dear customer, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that the ligature wasn't suitable, we do sometimes find they can be bent out of shape as you suggest. If you would like to discuss different ligature options I'm sure we'd be able to help and offer a discount due to the inconvenience you've experienced. Kind regards, Kasey Stone - Dawkes Sales
Great service, very good mouthpiece
I bought it for my 19 yr old saxophonist grandson. He is very pleased with it.
Because of the lockdown with COVID-19 I wasn’t able to visit or try out any any mouthpieces. I purchased this Meyer mouthpiece on a recommendation. I am extremely pleased with the purchase, the tone is much richer and deeper and I am finding it extremely easy to play.
Not my chosen sound but good all rounder.
Wonderful tone without being too hard for a student to control
Bought for my Music Teacher. she is pleased with it
Great mouthpiece, I have used this model for many years. The graded lay provides a full and rich tone. The mid sized 5M suites all styles of playing.
After using a Selmer Jazz metal mouthpiece, which has a great sound, I found the Meyer more manageable - probably because my usual instrument is a baritone and I find the alto difficult!
As a developing player (mainly jazz & blues) my teacher recommended an upgrade from my Yamaha 4C. Spent a morning with Dawkes playing various pieces and settled on the Meyer. Lovely tone, warm and mellow but with a hard edged growl when you want it. Still learning how to get the best from it but when I hit the sweet spot it sounds great.
